The concept project was presented by Sports Minister of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Sergey Alekseev, who informed the meeting how the sports venues are planned to be operated after the end of the Winter Universiade 2019. “Many Federations participated actively in the design of Winter Universiade venues, mainly those were federations for major winter sports. Therefore, I consider it important for the management of federations for other sports to start discussing the possibilities for further operation of venues currently under construction or renovation. Each sports venue is complex and multifunctional, our purpose is to use their capacities 24/7 with maximum load for each sports hall, developing various sports. The concept should focus heavily on development of physical culture for mass population, possibility for local (city and the territory) citizen to exercise at the venues”, - noted Sergey Alekseev.
For example, Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace is going to become the main venue for volleyball (men’s and women’s teams, as well as replacements), for International Freestyle Wrestling Grand Prix competition “Ivan Yarygin”, as well as the training base for free gymnastics school, Greco-roman and heavy wrestling teams. After the renovation, the central stadium will not only keep on being the central base of Enisey FC (men’s women’s and youth teams), it will welcome back the Kranoyarsk Olympic Reserve College, the Judo school, the track and field school and others.
The issue of using some sports equipment and facilities by territory and municipal sports institutions is also under discussion.
The Chairman of the Public Council, Vladimir Chernykh, recommended to all interested parties to make suggestions for the concept project and summarized the discussion as follows: “This is going to be the legacy for Krasnoyarsk Territory, for our youth and special needs people. The Federations should see the possibilities for growth and development of sports, get involved in development of human resources for further work at the sports facilities, discuss with national federations the possibility to hold national and international competitions in the regional capital on the grounds formed by the new facilities constructed for the Winter Universiade”.
